Access from the downtown area

From the downtown area of Kyoto city, Hankyu line (private railway) is available.

  1.  Take the Hankyu line from Karasuma station to Katsura station. Every train stops at Katsura station. One way fee is 190 JPY, as of February 23, 2017.
  2. At Katsura station, go to the west exit and reach a bus terminal. Take the Keihan-bus NO. 20/20B or Kyoto city bus 西6. Get off the bus at Katsura-Goryozaka stop. One way fee is 240 JPY, as of February 23, 2017.  Frequency: every 10 minutes. The Chinese letter 西 means west.
  3. Get off the bus at Katsura-Goryozaka. The stop is located  just in front of the C-cluster of the campus. Cross the street and climb the stairs. C3 is the building 24 in the map. Our office is on the 3rd floor of the section C of the C3 building.

According to the google map, it would take 35-40 min in total.

Access from Kyoto Station

From Kyoto station, there are three possibilities.

  • Take the Keihan-bus Nos. 21 / 21A from the terminal north of Kyoto Station. Get off the bus at Katsura-Goryozaka stop.  It is about 40 minutes ride (it depends on traffic). One way fee is 300 JPY, as of March 6, 2023.  Frequency: every 20-30 minutes.
  • First take the JR train from Kyoto to Katsuragawa station (5 minutes ride). Then take the Yasaka-bus Nos. 6/6s (yellow color). Get off the bus at Katsura-Goryozaka stop (15 minutes ride; it depends on traffic). One way fee is in total　 400 JPY, as of March 6, 2023. Frequency of Yasaka bus: 2 or 3 services per hour.   • First take the subway from Kyoto to Shijo station (3 minutes ride). Then, take the Hankyu-line at Karasuma. After Karasuma, follow the Access from the downtown area.

Katsura-Goryozaka stop is located  just in front of the C-cluster of the campus. Cross the street and climb the stairs. C3 is the building 24 in the map. Our office is on the 3rd floor of the section C of the C3 building.
